Pictures from Utah

Here is the first bit of April pictures, from our week in Utah.
Here is Joshua at the temple during General Conference. We had tickets for the Saturday morning session, but kids can't go in, so I watched some from the old tabernacle and we walked around for the rest. Joshua loved seeing the temple.

A 5 month old and a almost 3 year old

These guys are just too cute not to share. Abigail is 5 months now and is weighing in at 17 pounds and is 25 1/2 inches long. Which puts her in the 75% for both height and weight. She is quite cute and pudgy. She also has the sweetest personality. She is always laughing, giggling, and cooing. She is way more vocal than Joshua was.
Joshua is doing great. He is getting to really big. He loves to make bread and pizza with daddy, and play with Abigail. He starting to get into the lots of questions and lots of talking stage. We have been working on praying for a long time now and he is finally catching on. Most nights Caleb and I have to bite our lips to keep from laughingat what he chooses to talk about in his prayers. They cover the normal "Bless Abigail to not have a runny nose..." to "bless my race cars and my choo choo train as it goes up the hill saying 'I think I can I think I can...." It is very fun to see him learn and discover.
The pictures in the slide are Abigail's five month pictures, our last big snow fall, making bread and pizza with daddy, the St Patricks's Day cement mixer parade, the model train expo, and playing around the house. Now we are off to house hunt and spend some time with family. We will keep you updated.

Match Day and Dinner Pictures

Our friends from the Match dinner the night before.

Here's Joshua with his little friends, all waiting for noon to find out where they're headed...
...or maybe they were just there for the rocks.

It's kind of a stampede to get to the mailboxes once people see the deans start placing the envelopes

Joshua was helping assuage the anticipation before we actually opened it.

And the verdict you already know by now...

As part of the post-match festivities everyone placed a pin on their new location. The city of Loma Linda itself wasn't actually on their map, so we had to guess a bit.

Match Result by the numbers

The match was today, so we just found out where we're going. Instead of just jumping to the important part, I thought I'd try to put it in context first:

It has taken:
8 years of higher education
2 kids
$200k+ of education debt,
2 months waiting for interview invitations,
12 interviews spanning about 2 months and 7 states,
4 rental cars,
17 nights at hotels, family/friends/stranger's houses, and even in one of the above rental cars,
3,133+ miles driving to interviews,
16,900 frequent flyer miles for the same interviews,
way too much money towards those travel expenses,

6 weeks deciding how to rank them,
5 more weeks waiting to find out,

That I'll be doing 3 years of Emergency Medicine residency at

Loma Linda University Medical Center

4 Months old

I took some four month pictures of Abigail. She is getting so big and so much fun.

Love the drool.

These guys love each other. Abigail is always laughing at Joshua and he is always giving her kisses and hugs.

I had to snap some pictures of Joshua too. I got this Estonian sweater from my mission and was so excited that he finally fits in it. He is finally starting to pose a little for me in pictures, but it is still a struggle...got some cute smiles though.

The end of a very, very long fun trip!

We are home and settled in from our almost seven week adventures out west. We had a great time visiting all the family and letting Caleb getting some work done. We left California and got to Utah on the 1st of February. We were supposed to go a little earlier but were waiting for my sister to go into labor. She finally did and had the baby, Levi, on Saturday...we left Monday :( so I only got to see him a little bit. He was very cute and I can't wait to see him again. Anyway we drove through the night and made it to Utah in time for Caleb to start his rotation at snowbird. We spent a little over two weeks there and had a great time. Caleb got lots of skiing in and Joshua and Abigail got lots of grandma, grandpa, uncle, aunt and cousin time. We did all sorts of fun things, but I think Joshua's favorite was just to be at grandmas and play trains, he still talks about them.

We all went to Temple Square to watch the Joseph Smith movie and eat lunch. It was really fun to be together and see the temple.

I was taking a quick shower one morning and had laid Abigail on the bed. While I was in the shower I kept hearing her laugh. I got out to find this...

Joshua laying next to her reading her books, I hadn't even known he came back into the room.
I thought it was so cute that I had to snap a picture.

Catching Up

Well it has been a really long time since my last post and a lot has happened.
We had Christmas in Vermont on our own. It was a wonderful peaceful Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve with our friends and Christmas day as a family. Joshua spent the whole day in his pajamas playing with his new toys.

A week later we flew out to California so Caleb could do an Anesthesia rotation in Santa Barbara. Joshua has been in heaven playing every day with all his cousins, he is literally falling into bed every night completely exhausted from playing so hard all day. Of course everybody also loves and has been enjoying Abigail.

We ended up blessing Abigail the first Sunday we were here. Originally we were going to bless her in Vermont, but things kept coming up, and then the majority of our friends left town. Long story short we figured it was better to wait until she was a little older so that we could at least have more than Caleb in the circle :). It was great to have family there to share it with us, and we we were so grateful that they drove up to participate. Caleb gave a beautiful blessing.

Caleb has finished all his interviews. One of his last interviews was up in San Fransisco so we all drove up together and made a little family adventure out of it. Although it will not be in our top five... it was a fun little trip.

Lately we are just excitedly awaiting the birth of my sisters 4th little boy. I threw her a little baby shower and have been trying to help keep her distracted and just letting Joshua enjoy having so many playmates. Abigail is three months old now so I took her pictures here are a couple of them. All I can say about them is adorable.
